Joe Hugill is set to be rewarded with a new and improved Manchester United contract amid growing transfer interest in his signature.
The 19-year-old striker impressed United staff during the summer pre-season schedule and has been catching the eye of Football League clubs in the process. The Manchester Evening News understands Hugill will soon be rewarded with a new contract to reflect his growing stature at the club after catching the eye of manager Erik ten Hag.
It is understood the teenage striker is close to agreeing to a new three-year deal, which will include the option of another year. Hugill was added to the senior United squad for the closing stages of their pre-season tour of the United States in the summer, when the club felt they needed another attacking option in the group following an injury to Amad.

It gave him the opportunity to impress Ten Hag and his coaches first hand as he looks to make his breakthrough into senior football, three years after he joined the club from Sunderland. Hugill has recently been linked with a potential return to his former club, with The Black Cats monitoring the United youngster ahead of the January transfer window.
United opted against sending the teenage striker out on loan in the summer window despite strong interest from a number of EFL clubs, deciding that it would be better for his immediate development if he remained at the club. Hugill has already netted three goals and grabbed an assist in four Premier League 2 matches this season, with another decision on his future likely to be made ahead of the winter transfer window.
