JK Simmons Joins Aaron Sorkin’s Lucille Ball Biopic ‘Being the Ricardos’

The Golden Globes 2021 was full of dramatic moments and significant speeches as well as some technical glitches as the awards show was held virtually this year. This year's Golden Globes had quite a few surprises and snubs as a few shows and films did not make the cut.

J.K. Simmons and Nina Arianda are in negotiations to join Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem in Aaron Sorkin’s drama centered on television icons Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz of I Love Lucy fame.

EXCLUSIVE: Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons has been tapped to play actor William Frawley in Amazon’s and Aaron Sorkin’s Being The Ricardos, film about the relationship between the I Love Lucy stars. Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem are in final negotiations to play Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz in the film with Sorkin writing and directing. Frawley famously played Ball and Arnaz’s co-star in the I Love Lucy show in the role of Fred Mertz.

“I love Lucille [Ball], having looked now and delved into her,” Nicole Kidman told Variety when discussing her role in Aaron Sorkin’s Being the Ricardos. Nicole, 53, will bring the I Love Lucy icon to life opposite Javier Bardem, who will portray Lucy’s husband, on-screen costar, and creative partner, Desi Arnaz. At first, news of Nicole landing the part was met with some skepticism and criticism from fans online, but Nicole swears she’ll put her all into the part.

Nicole Kidman is ready to step in Lucille Ball's shoes. While the actress' casting as the comedy icon caused controversy earlier this month, she couldn't be more excited to take on the role in Aaron Sorkin's upcoming film. «I was like, 'Yeah, I would love to give it a go,'» Kidman said in an interview with  published on Wednesday.
