Jessica Szohr isn’t planning on letting her kids watch Gossip Girl anytime soon.
In a new interview with E! News, the 36-year-old actress reflected on her time playing Vanessa Abrams in the CW series and what it was like seeing all the mischief her character got up to from a parent’s standpoint.

“Being a mom, when I watch it back I’m like, ‘Well, we’re never ever going to watch the show,” she said, adding stepdaughter Lexi and 1-year-old Bowie “can’t see this.”
Vanessa, who recently launched a Gossip Girl podcast called XOXO, explained that she was shocked by how much trouble the characters got into. “In that first season, what goes down is insane.”
She continued, ” Serena [Blake Lively] admits that she killed someone, Blair [Leighton Meester] loses her virginity to Chuck [Ed Westwick] in the back of a limo, Nate [Chace Crawford] has an affair with an older woman, Vanessa comes back, Dan [Penn Badgley] and Serena’s relationship, Lily [Kelly Rutherford] gets proposed to. That’s just season one and I’ve only said six things!”
“There’s just a lot of fun conversations and it definitely like brings warm fuzzy feelings,” Jessica said of her podcast, adding that many of the stars from the original show “had not really watched it.”
As for the one topic she’d be avoiding in the new show, the actress shared she won’t be divulging any secrets about relationships between cast members behind the scenes.
“It’s not a gossip situation,” she said. “There are a lot of fun conversations, but I try to stay away from that. If some people happen to bring it up in their conversations with me, then it’s there but I don’t pry.”
