Sarah Jessica Parker recently made an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and opened up about the Sex and The City reboot–And Just Like That, and Kim Cattrall’s absence in the show. If you didn't know, in the revival show, Parker’scharacter Carrie Bradshaw texts Cattrall’s character Samantha Jones, asking if she’d like to meet for a drink but Cattrall aka Jones declines.  Talking about how her absence was handled on the show, Parker gave all the credit to showrunner and head writer Michael Patrick King who made the storyline so easy and understandable.

Actually, what happened was toward the latter part of March 2020, I was where we all were — at home, listening to podcasts.

And Just Like That.Cattrall played Samantha Jones, a publicist and close friend of Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw, in the original Sex And The City series which ran from 1998 to 2004, as well as reprising the character for the two spin-off films.Her character was noticeably absent from the recent series reboot, however, following a public statement that she didn’t want to return.In a new interview with Variety, Parker was asked whether she would be OK with Cattrall returning. “I don’t think I would, because I think there’s just too much public history of feelings on her part that she’s shared,” she replied.

The season finale of And Just Like That… premiered on Thursday, and while viewers were distracted throughout the season by a great many controversies on and off-screen — Chris Noth‘s sexual assault allegations, the way Samantha’s absence was handled, Miranda’s storyline and the whole Che Diaz of it all — a lot of fans noticed something that wasn’t addressed.
