Zack Sharf Digital News Director Jennifer Lawrence recently told Entertainment Weekly that she “died laughing” when reading the real-life Craiglist ad that inspired her upcoming raunchy R-rated comedy “No Hard Feelings.” Directed by Lawrence’s longtime friend Gene Stupnitsky, the film casts the Oscar-winning actor as a Montauk Uber driver facing bankruptcy who accepts a Craiglist ad to date and seduce an awkward 19-year-old (Andrew Barth Feldman). His helicopter parents don’t want him leaving for college as a virgin. Stupnitsky and Lawrence first let it slip at CinemaCon last month that “No Hard Feelings” was based on a real-life Craiglist ad. The director told EW that it was the film’s producers, Marc Provissiero and Naomi Odenkirk, who sent him the Craiglist ad.

Jennifer Lawrence has wanted to do a big comedy for years. She has always been funny and vibrant in her television appearances. And while she has brought humor and physical comedy to many of her roles for David O. Russell and others, she also hasn’t exactly gotten the big, broad “Dumb and Dumber” or “Anchorman” experience, to cite some of her favorites (or at least the ones she’s memorized).
CinemaCon, the annual exhibition industry conference, and for the first time in years, there was a celebratory air to the whole affair.
