Hard Feelings—the newest original podcast from —the best-selling author plans to start pulling back the curtain.“I've, for a long time, recorded voice memos into my phone when I'm in the thick of feeling an emotion as a means of processing it more fully,” the best-selling author tells Glamour.
“And then I just thought, ‘You know what? This would be a really cool podcast.’”Hard Feelings is an intimate and unpolished window into a rarely seen side of the former iCarly star.
The direction it takes will have a lot to do with the 31-year-old's state of mind from week to week, but jealousy, shame, expectations, and social anxiety are likely topics.“I think the intimacy of it is really exciting," McCurdy adds.
“When I'm recording, it's just important to me that I'm not self-editing and not self-censoring.
I'm saying whatever in the moment, free-flowing, total stream of consciousness.”Of course, there will be some trimming down for clarity."The bite-sized nature of it—that was really important to me," McCurdy continued.
"I didn't want a podcast that was an hour and 48 minutes.
I feel overwhelmed when I go in to listen to a podcast and it's eight years long.
I'm like, ‘Okay, nobody has time for this.’”In many ways the podcast is an extension of McCurdy's radically vulnerable memoir “It's done so much in real time.
I have no idea what next week's episode will be, for example, because that'll be something that I'll record in the moment that I'm feeling the emotion.
