A 'controlling' boyfriend sent a mum-of-two a manipulative text hours before killing her - while still on bail for attacking another woman. Jason Gowan smothered Fiona Robinson at their home in Chorley, Lancashire, before making a video in which he mocked her.
Fiona, 37, could be seen seen with bruises to her face and back in the degrading clip. But 28-year-old Gowan only called 999 the following morning.
He denied killing Fiona at first, before eventually pleading guilty to murder in court, Lancs Live reports. The tragedy unfolded last May, while Gowan was on bail for domestic abuse offences, committed against his former partner.

At a sentencing hearing at Preston Crown Court today (January 16), Stephen Wood KC, prosecuting, said their relationship was "characterised by the defendant's physically abusive, manipulative, possessive and controlling behaviours borne out of paranoia and jealousy". In the months before she was murdered, Fiona, 37, sent a number of messages and photos to a friend, showing injuries inflicted by Gowan.
Colleagues had seen her with bruises and in October 2022 she had told her employer her partner was violent towards her. On May 22, 2023, Fiona sent photos of injuries which included bite marks and two days later told her friend she had "cheated" and that Gowan had bitten her. From April 13, she planned to leave the relationship, Preston Crown Court heard.
But at 2:16am on May 26, 2023, Gowan made a 999 call telling the officer his partner had stopped breathing and was covered in bruises as if she had been beaten. He said she had been out drinking and returned home drunk but that he had only just noticed the injuries.
Gowan told a
