Stray Kids singer Seungmin has dropped a brand-new single titled ‘Close To You’ as a contribution to the Love In Contract official soundtrack.The release of Seungmin’s new track was first announced by representatives of South Korean cable network tVN on October 19, via Daum News. The song was subsequently released on all major music platforms on October 20 at 6pm KST.Described as a song that “showcases Seungmin’s outstanding vocal ability”, ‘Close To You”s lyrics “contains feelings of love that have already occupied a large space in the heart”.

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief “Band of Brothers” writer Bruce McKenna is teaming with David Broyles (“Six”) and Nick Jones Jr. (“Yasuke”) to write and produce a limited TV series “Buffalo Rangers” about the 2nd Ranger Company, the only all-Black special operations combat unit in U.S. history. They were notable for their efforts in the Korean War. The series is being produced by South Korea-based Moving Pictures Company, which has a growing English-language slate. No broadcaster or streamer has been announced. Producing alongside Broyles, Jones and McKenna are Thomas Suh (through his production company Système D Entertainment), Paul Merryman (“The Outpost”), Debra Martin Chase (“Harriet,” CBS’s “The Equalizer”) and Jariko Denman (“The Outpost”), a retired master sergeant with 15 combat deployments.

Thania Garcia The South by Southwest Music Festival has revealed the first round of performers for its 37th annual celebration, taking over Austin, Texas, from March 13-18, 2023.  The full list of artists appears below, but highlights include South Korean artists Balming Tiger and Beenzino, Calle 13’s iLe (Puerto Rico), Ladaniva (France), Max Cooper (England), Mightmare, Núria Graham (Spain), the Orielles (England), Otoboke Beaver (Japan), RVG (Australia), Son Rompe Pera (Mexico) and dozens more. Like previous years, the festival will host multiple events spotlighting the 191 emerging talents on the list — with this being the first of several announcements for its planned showcases that will span six nights.

Todd Spangler NY Digital Editor After two straight quarters of subscriber losses, Netflix returned to growth in the third quarter of 2022 — and told investors it’s expecting a strong Q4 to finish the year, even though it doesn’t expect big gains right away from the launch of its cheaper, ad-supported plans. The streaming giant reported 2.41 million net new paid subscribers in Q3, including a gain of 100,000 in the U.S./Canada region, to stand at 223.1 million worldwide as of the end of September. That handily topped Netflix’s previous forecast of a 1 million pickup for the period. For Q4, Netflix expects to gain 4.5 million new streaming customers, compared with 8.3 million in the year-earlier quarter. Netflix Basic With Ads is slated to launch in the U.S. on Nov. 3 and priced at $6.99 per month — three dollars less than the regular Basic plan. Similar ad tiers are also coming next month to 11 other countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Spain and the U.K.

Lauv and (G)I-DLE vocalist Minnie recently teamed up to perform the American singer-songwriter’s single ‘All 4 Nothing (I’m So In Love)’.On the October 15 episode of South Korean music show Music Universe K-909, the two singers united for a live performance of ‘All 4 Nothing (I’m So In Love)’, from Lauv’s August 2022 album ‘All 4 Nothing’. Lauv and Minnie performed a stripped-down acoustic version of the track atop a stage decorated with flowers, with the former playing the guitar.“I’m so in love, I’m so in love / I don’t ever wanna stop this ride that we’re on / I don’t ever wanna say goodbye / ‘Cause then all of those nights / They would just be all for nothing,” they sing on the chorus.Shortly after the performance aired, the (G)I-DLE singer took to Instagram to share photos taken backstage with Lauv.

Thania Garcia Jin will be the next BTS member to release solo music, the singer announced during the band’s free-of-charge “Yet to Come” concert in South Korea on Saturday. Jin made sure to spare the details on names and dates, but he did state there was a single he made in collaboration “with someone that I’d always really liked,” according to a translation by Soompi. “It’s not a huge album or anything, it’s just a single,” he confirmed. “I’ve filmed a lot different things recently, and there’s still a lot left to film, so I hope you’ll enjoy all of it.” The collaboration will be his first lone release since BTS announced that its seven members — Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook — would be taking a hiatus earlier this June.

Wonho has released his second single album, ‘Bittersweet’, alongside a music video for title track ‘Don’t Regret’.The new visual sees Wonho navigating the fallout of a breakup – calling his ex in an attempt to make amends and looking back at her leaving him for good – and later ending with Wonho walking away from the apartment they used to share.“When I go back in time, / I’ll be the same / Not for a moment / I don’t regret it,” Wonho croons at the post-chorus.Apart from the title track, ‘Bittersweet’ also includes ‘On & On’, which features vocals from rapper Yunhway. Notably, Yunhway was also involved in the writing and production of the track.‘Bittersweet’ marks Wonho’s third domestic release of the year, coming eight months after the release of his first single album ‘Obsession’.

A major leak of Mexican government documents revealed that members of the military sold weapons and information to the cartels.  "Sedena [Secretariat of National Defense] reported in its confidential report that the supplier of weapons and tactical equipment is another alleged member of the Army, whom the criminals refer to as "antiguo" and who, according to the analysis of his telephone signal, is based in Campo Military No. 1 of Mexico City," according to the documents.  The information came to light following a security breach at the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), in which hackers from a group calling itself Guacamaya acquired more than four million confidential documents from the government, Mexican outlet Vallarta Daily reported.  One of the documents was an intelligence report from June 2019 that stated a military officer offered tactical equipment, weapons and information on armed forces operations to drug cartels.  At one point, a cartel leader asked the military for 2,000 rounds of ammunition for AK-47 rifles, 5,000 for the R-15 and 50 magazines for each type of rifle.  Mexican marines escort five alleged drug traffickers of the Zeta drug cartel in front of an RPG-7 rocket launcher, hand grenades, firearms, cocaine and military uniforms seized from alleged members of the Zetas drug traffickers cartel and presented to press on June 9, 2011 at the Navy Secretaryship in Mexico City.

LE SSERAFIM vocalists Huh Yun-jin and Kim Chae-won recently performed one of the act’s upcoming B-sides ‘Good Parts (when the quality is bad but I am)’ with singer-songwriter Salem Ilese.On the October 8 episodes of South Korean music show Music Universe K-909, the two LE SSERAFIM members appeared alongside American singer-songwriter Salem Ilese to perform a new track from the girl group’s second mini-album ‘ANTIFRAGILE’, due out on October 17 at 6PM KST.Titled ‘Good Parts (when the quality is bad but I am)’, the laid-back pop track is the final song on the five-track record, and features lyrics penned by Ilese, Huh and LE SSERAFIM’s Sakura, who was not present for the performance.“I just wanna love myself / When I’m feeling good or bad / I love my weakness / I may not always be glamorous, I may seem a bit plain / But find the good parts the good parts,” they croon on the chorus.Elsewhere in the episode, Kim and Ilese also teamed up to perform the latter’s 2020 hit single ‘Mad At Disney’. “So call me a pessimist / But I don’t believe in it / Finding a true love’s kiss is bullshit,” sings the LE SSERAFIM leader in her lines, which remain true to the original track.In addition to ‘Good Parts’, Huh also wrote lyrics for two other tracks on ‘ANTIFRAGILE’, namely ‘Impurities’ and ‘No Celestial’.

Because it did.  Filipino audiences have known de Leon from shows such as “Amy’s Mother” and “Mirabella,” while Western audiences might have seen her on the HBO Asia series “Folklore.” But the Neon release, out on Friday, it what has put De Leon on the map. “I’m getting better roles and better offers,” she says. BTS‘ exemption from military service by December.The announcement was made during tourism minister Park Bo-kyun’s attendance of the South Korean National Assembly’s parliamentary inspection of the administration yesterday (October 5), per Ten Asia. Park shared a timeline for the decision after People Power Party member Lee Yong-ho requested for him to “actively review the issue of BTS’s military service”, as translated by Soompi.“Member Jin’s enlistment is set to be sorted out by December, but the MCST will finalise our stance as soon as possible before then,” Park said in response.

AKMU‘s Lee Chan-hyuk will be making his debut as a soloist later this month with his first album, ‘Error’.Lee’s upcoming effort, titled ‘Error’ was first announced via social media earlier today (October 5). It will mark the musician’s first-ever solo project outside of sibling duo AKMU.A teaser image for Lee’s forthcoming record was also unveiled alongside the announcement, which features a cryptic photo of himself distorted by oversaturated film filters.

SF9 have announced stops in Seoul and North America for their upcoming ‘Live Fantasy #4 Delight’ tour, due to begin this November.South Korean music label FNC Entertainment made the announcement of SF9’s forthcoming tour earlier today (October 5) via social media, where it dropped a list of dates and locations. The ‘Live Fantasy #4 Delight’ tour will kick off with a three-night show in SF9’s home city of Seoul in November, before the group embark on a trek across the US with five shows scheduled in New York, Chicago, Dallas, Denver and Los Angeles across November and December.Venue and other specific show information have yet to be made publicly available by the organisers involved.
