The pair discussed everything from life in LA to Adele's songwriting inspiration during the sing-along session, ahead of Corden’s last episode of The Late Late Show.

Adele and James Corden reunited for the last  segment, and it was a wondrously touching final drive.In the 21-minute long video, the «Someone Like You» songstress surprises the  host in his home before the duo buckles up and takes a drive down memory lane, reminiscing on previous guests like Mariah Carey and Stevie Wonder, and giving viewers an intimate peek inside their close friendship.Adele reveals that Corden and his wife, Julia, have been her two greatest confidantes for years, especially after she relocated to Los Angeles after her split from Simon Konecki, the father of her son, Angelo. The singer explains that a conversation between her and Corden inspired the song «I Drink Wine,» which she boasts has some of her «best writing.»   «We'd been on vacation together with the kids and we were on our way home and my mood had changed. And it was the first year that I felt like I had to hold myself accountable for being an adult whereas the year before that, I had just left Simon and stuff like that,» she recalls.

Adele has said that the first verse of her song ‘I Drink Wine’ was partly inspired by a long conversation she had had with James Corden.‘I Drink Wine’ appeared on her 2021 album ’30’. “How can one become so bounded by choices that somebody else makes? The comedian spoke with ET ahead of his final show on Thursday, explaining why he felt «compelled» to organize his departure now. «You don't want to be making a mistake but I just feel compelled to do it,» Corden told ET's Nischelle Turner. «I feel like I've got to, I feel like if I don't leave now, I never will...or it will be me just being pushed out the door.» Corden first announced plans to leave in April 2022.
