The Walt Disney World attraction Flight of Passage features some creatures in this movie and the beach setting. Was that ride priming the pump for “Avatar: The Way of Water?”We knew what we were doing on the movie and at Lightstorm, my company, a lot of the creative people that were about to move onto “The Way of Water” worked on the ride Disney’s group, Imagineering. We actually merged the two groups together, the Imagineering team with the robotics and the show ride staff, and our team for the film software and the design.People that go to this movie who have been on the ride are going to say, “Oh yeah.”“Oh yeah, I’ve seen some of this stuff.” Yeah.
We even stuck a couple of Ilu in there, the long-neck creatures. If you look as you’re flying out over the ocean, before you go through the big wave, there’s a couple of Ilu jumping over on the left. You’ve said that you could’ve just been an adventurer and not returned to make movies. What about these stories unlocked the desire to come back?I think I looked at a couple of things – one, the continuation of our creative family that we had developed when we made the first film and there was a longing, yearning to come back together and do it all again and continue what we’d created.
There was the potential that it might, in some small way, do some good toward our global guardianship of the oceans. There’s always that possibility. I do all these documentaries, but a fictional film, if it has a broad enough reach, can have an impact.
There was that possibility. It felt good anyway to dream that a movie can have these themes and make an impact.Plus just the fun factor, just seeing it happen, seeing it brought to life. I mean, it all pays off at the end.

Some cinematic questions remain eternal. What’s in the briefcase in “Pulp Fiction“? What did Bob whisper in Charlotte’s ear at the end of “Lost In Translation“? And was there enough room on that floating door for Rose and Jack to survive in “Titanic“? As the film approaches its February 10 theatrical rerelease, James Cameron looks to put that mystery to bed in a new National Geographic special, “Titantic: 25 Years Later With James Cameron.” READ MORE: ‘Titanic’ 25th Anniversary Re-Release Trailer: James Cameron’s Oscar-Winning Epic Returns To Cinema In February EW has a breakdown of four different scenarios Cameron uses to recreate his film’s tragic scene and speculate if Jack indeed had a chance to avoid his chilly fate.

While yesterday’s DC Studios “Chapter 1” film and TV slate announcement did give a surprising amount of information about what the studio is working on moving forward, it didn’t answer all of the questions fans have.
For many folks, when they found out that James Gunn and Peter Safran were taking over as co-CEOs of DC Studios, the assumption was that Gunn would lead the way with creative and craft the DC Universe in his image. Well, clearly, that’s panning out a bit like that, as Gunn recently confirmed that he is writing (and possibly directing) “Superman: Legacy” and has already written “Creature Commandos” and is obviously heavily involved in the other new projects.
DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn spoke about former Superman actor Henry Cavill’s exit as the Man of Steel at the DCU presentation on the Warners lot on Monday, clarifying that he and co-CEO Peter Safran didn’t fire Cavill and adding that the “Man of Steel” actor was unfortunately “dicked around by a lot of people.”Cavill delighted fans in last year when he made a surprise appearance as Superman in “Black Adam,” then revealed soon after that he was fully ready to once again don the red cape for DC Studios and Warner Bros. Discovery. And for a short while, his return seemed like a sure thing.Post-“Black Adam,” Cavill promised future appearances as the last son of Krypton while Dwayne Johnson publicly touted his own vision for Black Adam and Superman in the DC Universe.
Well, James Cameron naysayers, it’s time to admit defeat. Variety reports that “Avatar: The Way Of Water” now sits at #5 in the all-time box office gross rankings with $2.054 billion globally.
In the wake of the breathtaking Avatar: The Way of Water soaring past the $2 billion global gross mark, the James Cameron-directed epic scored a best picture nomination, along with noms for production design, sound and visual effects. The snub of Cameron’s monumental achievement in the best director category continues the franchise’s complex relationship with Oscar.
