When your dad is a presenter and your mum became a household name following her stints on reality TV, there’s no surprise that Bobby Brazier was going to follow in their showbiz footsteps. The 19-year-old is walking onto one of the UK’s biggest soaps next week as EastEnders' latest heartthrob Freddie Slater, and we can hardly wait. Especially after OK! got an invite down to Albert Square to chat to Bobby about his new role – plus a sneaky tour around the set! Here, Bobby – the son of Jeff Brazier, 43, and Jade Goody, who passed away in 2009, tells us all about what trouble Freddie will be bringing to the Square when he joins the show to look for his dad. Hi, Bobby! What’s the reaction been to the announcement that you were joining EastEnders? There’s been a lot of love and support, I’ve been very lucky.
People are really excited to see Freddie. I’m really excited for people to see him, I feel very supported. I feel like people want the best for me and the fact that I feel that off set makes me feel more comfortable on set.
It means I can learn quicker and become a better actor, which is what I’m here to do. What can you tell us about Freddie so far? He isn’t a geezer, he’s not trying to prove himself as a bad boy. He’s got a lot of depth to him and he’s in touch with that.
He’s a lad in a way that he does silly things, he’s kind of reckless but it always comes from a place of that depth. Freddie’s still developing as well, which is really fun. Has the cast welcomed you into the fold? There’s not a standout person, but everyone has made me feel so welcome quickly.
