Sunny Day Real Estate have returned with their first new single in 10 years, ‘Novum Vetus’, and announced a run of shows to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their seminal album ‘Diary’.The emo legends, who announced their reunion in 2022, had been teasing the song earlier this week by sharing a minute-long snippet to Instagram. The sound soundtracks a video of an artist drawing the phrase “novum vetus”, (Latin for “everything old is new again”) and then sketching out a boat at sea, over which frontman Jeremy Enigk was heard singing: “The day we died inside, the world was suffering / 10,000 words collide but no one said a thing / the day we died inside the walls come tumbling down.”Although ‘Novum Vetus’ is only just seeing the light of day, it was first conceived when Sunny Day Real Estate were recording 1998’s ‘How It Feels to Be Something On’.

Automotion have shared a new single called ‘Liquify’ – check it out below.The rampant new track is the first the band have shared since their latest EP, ‘Artificial Ascent’ – and sees them capture the same essence of old school Jungle tracks.As highlighted by a press release, ‘Liquify’ sees the South London four-piece – comprised of frontman Jesse Hitchman, bassist Finton Eatwell-Hurst, drummer Otis Eatwell-Hurst and guitarist Lennon Gallagher (son of Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher) – utilise a “rampant and complex labyrinth of quick riffs and eclectic vocals”, and experiment with an assortment of different genres.“The inspiration for the track came from an old school Jungle dance track yet through the process of writing has become so far removed from its influence that it has a life of its own,” Hitchman said of the inspiration behind ‘Liquify’. He also explained that the song was “driven by the tension between the desire to create something new and having personal taste”.The single also sees the band team up with Faris Badwan (lead vocalist of The Horrors) for production duties and Patrick James Fitzroy (PVA, Sorry, Katy J Pearson), who mixed the track.

Ice Spice has dropped her brand new song ‘Think U The Sh*t (Fart)’.The rapper has unveiled the full song as her first release of 2024, and sees the rapper taunting: “Think you the shit, bitch? / You not even the fart”. Mumford & Sons have opened up about their collaboration with Pharrell on new single ‘Good People’ – their first new music in five years.The British band returned with the single yesterday (January 16), which was produced by Pharrell and features his backing vocals.The artists also brought in the vocals of a six-piece vocal choir from the USA and Canada, hailing from Native American Tribes within the Northern Great Plains.In a new interview with The Zane Lowe Show on Apple Music, Marcus Mumford recalled meeting Pharrell almost 10 years ago on the festival circuit, sharing that they “instantly got on”.“There was a mutual kind of respect and admiration straight away,” he added.”And we’ve always talked about making music together.
