After seven years away from our screens, Deal Or No Deal has made its return to the TV with a brand new look. Hosted by Stephen Mulhern, and now on ITV, the popular game show made its debut on our screens on Monday 20 November, though viewers were left complaining after one feature from the original show failed to make an appearance. In years gone by, contestants on Deal Or No Deal had the chance to win a whopping £250,000 prize pot, though the latest reboot failed to bring back this original feature.
Instead, contestants could only win a maximum jackpot of £100,000. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their shock, one social media user wrote: “Just turned the TV on and #DealOrNoDeal is on… where the hell is the £250,000 box may I ask? It’s a no deal from me." A second added: “Bit strange how 18 years ago when #DealOrNoDeal started they could afford to give away £250,000 but now the top prize is £100,000. Doesn’t feel quite as special does it? Don’t get me wrong though, I would still absolutely love to win 100K." Meanwhile, a third wrote: “Why has deal or no deal dropped the big cash prize? need the £250.000 more now than ever #dealornodeal." And a fourth said: “Big mistake dropping the maximum win from £250,000.
Lost a lot of its edge. #dealornodeal." However, despite some people’s confusion over the reduced jackpot, others were impressed by the show’s reboot, with TV personality and author Richard Osman praising the show’s debut. “Mulhern is great on the new #DealOrNoDeal.
Perfect choice,” he wrote. In addition to fronting the latest series of Deal Or No Deal, Stephen, 46, is known for presenting a variety of hit shows including Catchphrase and In For A Penny. More recently, Stephen revealed that he was

who died at 65 early Thursday — the story behind his band’s Christmas-in-the-drunk-tank classic “Fairytale of New York” began with Elvis Costello. The “Alison” singer was the Pogues’ producer at the time, and he bet the band that they couldn’t write a hit holiday single. But MacGowan and Pogues banjo player Jem Finer would prove Costello wrong after writing “Fairytale of New York” — the most-played Christmas song of the 21st century in the UK — in 1985.Finer came up with the melody and original concept for the song, which was initially about a homesick sailor on Ireland’s West Coast. But Finer’s wife suggested changing up the lyrics to be a conversation between a couple at Christmas. Then the notoriously hard-drinking MacGowan took it from there and transformed it into the Broadway-style tinsel tune we know today.“I sat down, opened the sherry, got the peanuts out and pretended it was Christmas,” he told Melody Maker in 1985.“It’s quite sloppy ….
