Deal or No Deal made for emotional viewing when contestant Brad shared with host Stephen Mulhern that he was terminally ill. Brad, who was visibly upset, revealed that he had been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a condition that weakens the muscles and leads to paralysis. Brad bravely explained that he likely only had a few years left to live.
However, he remained positive, reminding Stephen that physicist Stephen Hawking also had MND and lived for 55 years after his diagnosis. As first reported by Daily Star, with his voice trembling, Brad expressed his hope of winning some money on the show to start ticking things off his bucket list. He also wanted to leave some cash behind for his family.
The studio was filled with emotion as many of Brad's co-stars, who had become friends, began to cry as he opened up about his condition and his newfound positive outlook on life.
Many were seen wiping away tears on camera. Brad seemed to be playing an excellent game, and everyone was rooting for him to win big. At one point in the game, he managed to eliminate more blue boxes than red.
Most importantly, the massive £100,000 prize was still up for grabs. Brad had a great start in the game, with more red boxes left than blue ones.
The banker called with a tempting offer of £12,500, especially as the £75,000 box was still in play. Brad asked his mum for advice and she told him to keep playing because he'd been lucky so far.
But then, things took a bad turn. After Brad said no to the money, he shared that he'd dreamt of winning £75,000. Sadly, this dream was crushed in the final round.
