This Morning viewers were left surprised when they thought Holly Willoughby had returned during Wednesday's episode (December 27). The popular ITV daytime show aired in a bid to keep viewers entertained during the bewildering moments of time between Christmas and New Year.
Big Brother stars Rylan Clark and Emma Willis were at the programme's helm, as they interviewed guests and hosted festive segments - including how best to make use of Christmas leftovers with TV chef Phil Vickery. This Morning also highlighted some previously-recorded chats with special guests, including Frozen singer Idina Menzel and American pop singer Pink.
Fans were perplexed when both Dermot O'Leary and former This Morning host Holly were on-screen for Idina's interview. After Holly reappeared, viewers immediately took to social media to share their thoughts.

Writing on X, formerly Twitter, @andread48070873 laughed: "viewers just switching on will think Holly's back! #thismorning" as @PixelvertPhilo wrote: "HOLLY!! #ThisMorning," alongside a GIF of a baby cheering with the caption: "YESSSSSSSS".
Meanwhile @worf2024 predicted: "I think Holly will make a return eventually. #thismorning" and @Rosie12_1994 wondered: "#thismorning are they begging holly to come back or what..."
Holly quit the show in October this year, months after former co-host Phillip Schofield also stepped down. Phillip announced his departure in May, after saying rumours of a fractured relationship with Holly behind the scenes had "become the story".
He then resigned from ITV
