The Chase contestant Tam from Glasgow was praised by the Chaser on Tuesday night's show over his "brave" decision to go for the £44,000 jackpot offer.
The Scots firefighter got a respectable £4,000 in the cash-building round during the ITV quiz show hosted by Bradley Walsh. However, it wasn't enough for the 53-year-old when it came to facing the Chaser.
Tam quipped: "You're only here once aren't you," as he was faced with sticking to his £4,000, taking the lower offer or aiming high at the £44,000 presented to him. He was hailed as "brave" by Darragh Ennis, known as 'The Menace.'
Having been quizzed on what he would spend the money on, Tam gushed over his five grandkids. He said: "They won't forgive me if I don't name them," as he gave them all a shoutout and explained he would be hoping to cash in on the gameshow to take them all to Disneyland.
He also admitted to enjoying woodwork in his spare time, admitting all the sawdust everywhere he refers to as a 'man's glitter' as Bradley joked he could use the money on a dustpan and brush.
However, Tam's valiant efforts weren't enough to get back to the team as he was caught out. "He was brave, he was always going to be as a firefighter," Darragh praised the contestant.
Fans took to social media, as one person said: "Ooh Tam made it a bit more exciting.#TheChase," and another wrote: "There was no way that Fireman Tam was going to take anything but the high offer #TheChase."
