The Chase fans paid tribute to a screen “legend” who sadly lost his life in a house fire.
Tuesday night’s instalment of the ITV programme, hosted by Bradley Walsh, featured Tom, Estelle, Jessica and Pete, who were hoping to beat the chaser and take home a hefty sum of cash.
Their collective aim was soon thrown a curveball when they realised they were up against the Sinnerman, Paul Sinha, one of the biggest brains in the UK.
And the team didn’t get off to the best start, as writes Liverpool Echo as the first two players were caught and sent packing.
Jessica gave it a shot and bravely went for the highest offer of £45,000 and viewers were delighted, taking to social media to praise her for making it back to the team.
But it was Pete - who introduced himself as a "semi-retired medieval trader" who stole the show as he’d also worked as a scare actor.
After he made it back to the group after taking the minus offer of -£5,000, fans took to social media to pay tribute to Pete as they said they recognised him as a “legend” and said he lost his life in a house fire.
After the episode, the Sinnerman took to X, formerly Twitter and penned: "Saddened to hear that Pete from today's Chase has since passed away in horrible circumstances. A true gentleman, a warm, engaging, and thoroughly entertaining opponent."
Pete's son Ben also spoke out, saying: "Dad was so excited about the episode. He talked about it daily up to the filming and then every week after. He had an amazing time and described the crew as the most wonderful warm people, and yourself & Bradley as amazing characters he would have liked to have had a beer with! TY."
One fan wrote: "Oh I just love Pete."
Another added: "RIP Pete."
