Former Love Island star Malin Andersson has bravely opened up about her journey through rehab for alcohol and drug addiction.
The 31 year old rose to fame on Love Island in 2016 but, since then, she's faced many challenging moments in her personal life, including the tragic loss of her one month old daughter, Consy, in 2018. Little Consy passed away shortly after Malin's mum, also named Consy-Gloria, who died from cancer. Malin went on to give birth to another baby daughter, named Xaya, in January 2022, but she and Xaya's dad, Jared, broke up soon after Xaya was born.
Malin has also lost her dad to cancer, struggled with eating problems, lost friends, and endured domestic abuse at the hands of her ex-partner, Tom Kemp, who is the father of Consy. He was jailed for ten months in 2020. After breaking up with Jared, Malin found herself going down a bad path, and it was actually Jared who suggested she get help.
She went to a deep internal therapy retreat for three weeks to get better, which meant being away from little Xaya. Speaking to The Sun, Maya revealed that, initially, she didn't believe that she had a problem with substance abuse, telling the publication: "I don't drink every day. I don't wake up and want to drink.
Sometimes I can go two months without it. But I was using alcohol and drugs as a coping mechanism." Speaking about her drinking habits, she revealed: "I would drink a lot. It could be three bottles of wine, or champagne, or whatever, then shots...
