He tied the knot with fellow soap star Caroline Harding in 2002, and they have one daughter together, Belle, 18.
Chris is also step-dad to Caroline's two children from a previous marriage with Line of Duty actor Jason Watkins - with Pip, 22, and Freddie, 24.
The Mirror reports the pair met when they went to see their mutual friend Catherine Tate performing at London's Comedy Store.
After the show, they went for a walk through Soho together, and he later got her number from Catherine.
They moved to Manchester when Chris became the seventh actor to play Peter, and now live in the popular south Manchester suburb of Chorlton.
In an interview in 2010, Corrie star Chris said: "If someone had said to me in my 20s that I'd have dated a divorced mum with kids, I would have said 'no way'.
"But it kind of made me feel closer to her. It was a very real relationship very quickly. I saw this amazing strength in her and I loved her kids Freddie and Pip."
Caroline has played multiple roles in ITV's Emmerdale, including Dr Garrett in 2013, and has also had stints in Weatherfield.
