Bruce Jones was famed for his role as Les Battersby on the hit ITV soap Coronation Street.
The Battersbys were loved for the chaos they caused on the cobbles, Les, his wife Janice, daughter Leanne and stepdaughter Toyah quickly became soap legends when they appeared on screens back in 1997.
For years, fans of the show were captivated by Les and Janice's whirlwind love story - with the pair having their fair share of drama before she made the decision to leave him for Dennis Stringer, reports the Mirror.
However, Les was quick to form another family unit with barmaid Cilla Brown, her son Chesney, and of course, their beloved pet pooch Schmeichel.
And despite the dramatic storylines he was caught up in, Les remains a beloved Coronation Street legend.
Off-screen, Bruce Jones who played the iconic character was tragically battling his own demons.
In a shock revelation, Bruce revealed that his troubles behind the scenes began long before he appeared on screens.
In 1977, Bruce was dragged into the Yorkshire Rippers murders, which led to a police investigation that ultimately ended his marriage.
The star was treated as a suspect in the murders, after he discovered the mutilated body of the Ripper's victim, Jean Jordan, in 1977.
Ultimately, it was revealed that the notorious Peter Sutcliffe was responsible for the brutal murder of the 20-year-old and the subsequent dumping of her body in Manchester.
However, because Bruce came across her body he was immediately suspected of being the killer - something he said had a lasting impact on his mental health and led to the breakdown of his marriage.
