The numbers are suggesting that Inside Out 2 is going to rocket to the top of the box office with an awe-inspiring debut weekend.
The Pixar film, a sequel to the 2015 original, arrived in theaters on June 14, and fans are turning out in droves to revisit the world.
In fact, the numbers so far have been so strong that the movie is drawing comparisons to Barbie, which was the biggest box office success of 2023!

According to reporting by Deadline, Inside Out 2 is on track to debut with $150 to $155 million in ticket sales at the domestic box office.
The outlet noted that the movie brought in $52 million on Saturday (June 15). Friday and Thursday previews had generated $62 million. While unlikely, there has been buzz that the movie could ride through the weekend on pace with Barbie‘s $162 million opening weekend.
While Barbie numbers are not likely, the outlet noted that the picture is on track to notch the second-best opening weekend of all time for an animated picture. Incredibles 2 holds the top spot with $182.6 million. The Super Mario Bros. Movie is currently in second place with $146.3 million.

However, in a two-star review, NME criticised the film’s subplots, writing: “As the film’s title hints, Marcus also has a bizarre thing where he believes he can’t die … Needless to say, this irritating idea resurfaces time and again, to diminishing returns.”Compared with other major releases this summer, the film, which also stars Eric Dane and Vanessa Hudgens, was a close second to Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes in its domestic launch, which garnered an impressive $58million.Ride Or Die, which had a budget of $100million also had a successful opening weekend globally, collecting $19.3million in Europe, and reportedly setting franchise records in the Middle East and Latin America, according to The Hollywood Reporter.The first film in the Bad Boys franchise was released in 1995, and featured Lawrence and Smith as Miami narcotics detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett.
