Since first making her Emmerdale debut back in 1995 as Mandy Dingle, actress Lisa Riley has quickly cemented her place in soap history of one of the show’s most beloved stars. Well known for her bubbly personality and infectious joy, Mandy has been at the heart of some of Emmerdale’s most thrilling storylines over the past three decades, including her on-off again romance with Paddy Kirk, and the surprising revelation that she had adopted her son Vinny, while in a relationship with Vinny’s abusive dad Paul Ashdale.
Away from the soap, Lisa herself has also had a fair dose of drama, and made the life changing decision to transform her life by shedding a whopping 12 stone in the space of just 18 months. Unlike many stars opting for a quick fix, Lisa’s main motivation came from trying to adopt a healthier lifestyle, which came from swapping her usual takeaway foods for regular sessions in the gym combined with a healthier diet.
During that 18 month timeframe, Bury-born Lisa dropped from a size 28 down to a svelte size 12, however the weight loss didn’t come without a few complications, as the star found herself plagued by painful folds of excess skin, which weighed more than 1.5 stone. Opening up in her 2017 documentary, Lisa Riley's Baggy Body Club, Lisa heartbreakingly admitted that her new body had left her feeling 'revolted' by her own appearance and even viewed herself as a 'saggy mess’, following the weight loss.
Lisa explained: “When I made the decision to lose weight, I never for one second imagined that I would end up looking like that.” "It never occurred to me that the loose skin would be so bad. I thought why on earth have I lost all this weight? I looked worse than I did when I was obese.
