Sally Nugent was announced as Louise Minchin’s replacement on BBC Breakfast in late 2021.The journalist and presenter, 50, has been a fan favourite since she took over alongside Dan Walker, though less is known about her personal life. Sally was born on the Wirral, near Liverpool and has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts and French from the University of Huddersfield. She began her career at BBC Radio Merseyside before moving on to report on sports news on BBC North West Tonight. The TV journalist had been freelancing on BBC Breakfast since 2011, filling in when hosts were unavailable, before finally stepping in full time at the start of 2022.
The mum-of-one keeps her family’s identity secret so little is known about her husband or child and there are no pictures of them on her Instagram page. However, she does often post snaps of the family’s Cavapoo Sadie, whom she jokes is the “boss of this house”. She’s recently been keeping her 54,900 followers updated on her outings, including showing off her toned figure in a red dress for Burrow Strictly Ball event.
Sally previously showed off her ageless looks as she donned a blue bodycon dress and got made up for Sports Personality of the Year Awards last year. In 2020, Sally hosted a series of interviews and BBC documentaries. One of these included a conversation with Marcus Rashford and his mission to end child poverty.
It won the journalist the Scoop of the Year award at the 2021 Royal Television Society Journalism Awards. According to abtc.ng, Nugent earns an estimated £230,000 a year. While this figure has not been confirmed by a third party or by Nugent herself, it would fall in line with the earnings of her co-stars.
