Inquest opens into death of mental health patient, 26, who blogged about illness

An inquest has opened into the death of a 26-year-old mental health patient who died at Wythenshawe Hospita l after blogging online extensively about her illness.
Support worker Elizabeth Matthews died on March 21. She had been detained under the Mental Health Act, area coroner for Greater Manchester South, Chris Morris, was told at the hearing in Stockport. Consultant Pathologist Dr Andrew Yates carried out a post mortem examination, but the cause of death has so far been 'unascertained', said police coroner's officer Alison Catlow.
Mr Morris said further tests were being carried out. The coroner adjourned the hearing until June 9, when a pre-inquest review of evidence will take place.

He said that he would be seeking evidence from local hospitals and other hospitals in Cornwall and mental health providers. Elizabeth was born in the village of St Dominick and lived at Park An Keres, Menhniot, both in Cornwall.
