An inquest has opened into the death of a 30-year-old dad who was hit by a car on the motorway. Benjamin Connor died following the collision on the M602, near Salford, on December 28 last year.
Mr Connor, who was born in Wythenshawe and lived in Warrington, suffered a 'subdural hematoma due to fractured skull', according to the results of a post mortem. A pathologist also listed his use of alcohol and cannabis as a contributory factor in his death, Bolton Coroners' Court heard.
Police coroners' officer Andrew Pickles told the hearing last Friday (April 29): "At around 2.40am on Tuesday December 28, police received reports of male walking along the M602 carriageway into oncoming traffic. He was struck by vehicle between junctions one and two."

Mr Pickles confirmed that Mr Connor was taken to Salford Royal Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later. The incident was investigated by Greater Manchester Police's (GMP) serious collision investigation unit but no criminal charges have been brought.
Area coroner for Manchester West Prof Alan Walsh adjourned the inquest until August 10 2022.
