Michael Owen has disagreed with Roy Keane's criticism of Mohamed Salah and admitted he was surprised to see the Liverpool star substituted against Chelsea.
Salah hit the headlines after his angry reaction after being taken off in the 77th minute at Stamford Bridge. The Egyptian star had set up Luis Diaz's opener and hit the bar with a curling right-footed effort.
With the game in the balance, Salah didn't take his withdrawal well, throwing his arms and ripping off his tape in a public strop. Keane was unimpressed with his reaction, telling Salah to 'shut up and sit down' in his post-match analysis on Sky Sports.
Jurgen Klopp played down the incident and insisted there was no issue. Owen sympathised with Salah, who he was surprised to see come off at a crucial moment in the game.

"I was surprised, yeah," Owen told Premier League Productions. "I get his reaction as well. I was definitely surprised. I thought Mo Salah played quite well.
"It was his assist for the goal. An amazing assist. It was his curling right-footed shot that hit the bar. It was him who literally was inches offside and scored; it could have been oh, so different.
"He was looking sharp. He is an absolute legend of the club. Consistently scores dozens and dozens of goals every season. And to bring him off, for a 17-year-old (Doak), yes, I was very surprised."
