Surrogacy is another option, becoming more and more common with famous faces including Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black and Chrissy Teigen and John Legend all having opened up about going down this path to welcome children. One person who is selflessly taking on the role of surrogate for prospective parents across the UK is Megan Watson-Wing.The 26 year old told OK! about her experience, having given birth in January 2023 to a little boy for a couple who couldn't conceive naturally.
She says: "I got into because I had grown up with friends and family struggling with fertility issues, and I could never really see myself being a parent. I never had any maternal instincts, ever.
“When Covid hit, I was put on furlough, and I think like a lot of people, I was questioning what I wanted to do in life. “I've never really been career driven, so I was kind of having a mini existential crisis, thinking 'what do I want to do?' "I had been looking into donating my eggs for a while, so I thought, Well, there's no better time than right now, so I did two rounds of egg donation, but the itch wasn't scratched.
