As another week of I’m a Celebrity…South Africa came to a close on Friday, fans at home were left baffled by one amusing gaffe made by Myleene Klass. The star had been overwhelmed during the show as she missed out on speaking to her children on the Bush Telegraph, when team captain Dean Gaffney decided to award the chance to speak to loved ones at home to fellow contestant Helen Flanagan instead. As she struggled to come to terms with the news, the 45 year old mum of two broke down in tears as she tried to hold it together in front of her campmates.
Immediately comforted by Joe Swash, the former EastEnders star leapt in to try and help Myleene through the situation, as he gave her a much needed hug and tried to put into perspective what was happening. Scared of missing out on their lives at home, the singer shakily admitted: “My kids are everything to me.They’re my kryptonite. My everything.” However, fans at home couldn’t help but wonder if "kryptonite" was really the word she was looking for, as the fictional green space rock to which it referred was famously known to be a weakness rather than a strength.
Taking to social media to share their thoughts on the matter, fans couldn’t help but point out the slip up as they pondered if it was actually what she had intended to say after all. “Hang on. Did Myleene say her kids were her kryptonite?” asked one fan.
A second also questioned her word choice as they asked: “Did Myleene mean Kryptonite?!” Meanwhile, a third pointed out: “Myleene. Kryptonite is not a good thing.” One fan even cheekily commented: “ 'My kids are my Kryptonite'.
