I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! is officially returning to Australia, but the move back is reportedly in chaos after an infectious disease has been found spreading throughout the country. After two years filming in Gwrych Castle, North Wales, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly are set to welcome a whole bunch of celebs back Down Under. But, Q Fever has been raging throughout the country.
The NHS defines Q fever as ‘a bacterial infection’ which is usually caught from breathing in dust from faeces that is contaminated by farm animals like sheep, cattle and goats that are infected with the bacteria. For the first time in years, alerts have been issued across south-east Queensland for Q-Fever, with residents warned to get their vaccinations. A source told The Sun: ‘I’m A Celebrity’s return to Oz was so important to ITV and was something fans of the show were hugely excited for.
Another infectious disease is really the last thing ITV needs. ’Although usually harmless, for some people it can lead to serious problems and is often caught by humans when they breathe in dust from faeces that is contaminated by animals that are infected with the bacteria. People infected with Q fever don’t always display symptoms.
Some people feel as if they have the flu within two or three weeks of being infected. These symptoms can include: a fever, aching muscles, tiredness, nausea, sore throat and swollen glands. These usually last for no longer than two weeks, however some people who become infected get what is known as chronic Q fever, which means their symptoms last for months instead of weeks.
This can also result in more serious problems, like endocarditis, an infection in the lining of the heart. A spokesperson told Metro. co.
