Almost a thousand pro-Palestine protesters marched into Manchester city centre in the latest demonstration. People held placards and led chants as they made their way from Platt Fields Park in Fallowfield to the city centre, eventually stopping at the Mechanics Institute on Princess Street.
There was a police presence as officers monitored protestors, blocked the road and directed traffic, with the march passing peacefully down Wilmslow Road, through the Curry Mile and then onto Oxford Road. The march finally culminated with speeches being made from various people about their direct experiences of the Gaza conflict.
Bus services were affected and some roads were momentarily halted to allow the protest to take place.

During the march, protestors took aim at several multi-national businesses, starting chants about Pret A Manger and Starbucks. The front doors of branches of Pret A Manger were locked, and police officers stood guard as the march passed through.
Along the way, other protestors hung the flag of Palestine across multiple lampposts, whilst others waved huge flags in the crowd.
Once arriving at the Mechanics Institute, three speakers detailed their experiences of the Gaza conflict. Dalloul Al-Neder, who was said to have lost five family members in the conflict, said: “We have been suffering. You are the voice for the voiceless - keep fighting and let the world know.”
Dr Mona El-Farra, the Gaza Director of Middle East Children’s Alliance, told the packed room: “I hope my grandchildren have a better chance than we did. “When you fight for Palestine, you fight to be free.”
