Alan Cumming has joked about his 'bromance' with First Minister Humza Yousaf while on a visit to Edinburgh.
The Scots actor, 58, and the SNP leader, 38, were photographed beaming together in Edinburgh's Waverly Station as Alan started filming for his upcoming Channel 4 series. Alan will front the series, titled Scotland’s Most Luxurious Railway, as he heads on a trip of a lifetime on the Royal Scotsman train.
Each episode will follow the train’s journey around Scotland, showing off the best of the country’s history, landscape, and culture. Sharing snaps on social media from his meeting with the First Minister, the actor joked about their 'evident bromance'.
Writing on Instagram, Alan wrote: "Despite the bromance evident in these pictures, I would like to quash any rumours that the First Minister of Scotland, @humzayousaf, and I got married today!
"We just met and had a good old natter about our passion for our homeland and our dearest wish and urgent need that it be able to self determine and fulfill its magical potential."
The First Minister also heaped praise on the Scots actor on social media following their meeting. “A pleasure to welcome the inimitable Alan Cumming to Edinburgh as he tours Scotland filming his upcoming Channel 4 series, showcasing our nation's beauty,” the SNP leader said.
“Public broadcasters play a vital role supporting our screen sector and reflecting a diversity of voices and communities.”
Announcing the exciting news last month, Alan said of the series: “I am a Royal Scotsman super fan and each trip I’ve taken aboard has been magical and memorable, so I’m delighted to get the chance to share the magic with Channel 4 viewers.”
