Horrifying photos show Kyiv buildings in ruins after Russian rocket strikes hit Ukraine capital overnight

A multi-story apartment building was hit by a rocket in Kyiv on Friday (25 February), injuring at least three people.
Shocking photos show the aftermath of the rocket launch, which caused the building to catch fire, the Kyiv mayor said.
Ukraine's President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said that the Russian military’s claim it is not targeting civilian areas is “a lie," with both military and civilian areas being attacked.

It comes as gunfire has been reportedly heard near the government quarter of the Ukrainian capital.
Meanwhile the Ukrainian foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba, said in a tweet just before 4am on Friday that “horrific rocket strikes” hit the capital in an attack he compared to the city’s 1941 shelling by Nazi Germany.
“Last time our capital experienced anything like this was in 1941 when it was attacked by Nazi Germany,” he said.
“Ukraine defeated that evil and will defeat this one. Stop Putin. Isolate Russia. Sever all ties. Kick Russia out of (everywhere).”
Russia's attack on Ukraine continues as key cities and military bases are targeted by Vladimir Putin's troops.
Ukraine lost control of the Chernobyl nuclear plant, while Ukrainian forces were battling other troops just miles from Kyiv for control of a strategic airport.
A Russian warship killed 13 soldiers on Thursday who were defending Ukraine's Zmiinyi Island, known as Snake Island, in the Black Sea.
President Zelenskyy said that a total of 137 civilian and military personnel have been killed so far.
But UK defence secretary Ben Wallace said that Russia has lost 'over 450 personnel' and had 'failed to deliver' on its 'day one objectives.'
