A bewildered homeowner has had bollards erected in front of her house by the local council due to concern over a school crossing. The local resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, urged Darlington Borough Council to remove the bollards and relocate the crossing due to safety concerns.
The local authority installed a section of tactile pavement on the footpath outside the woman's home in 2018 to increase the safety of parents and primary school children, reports Teeside Live.
But nearly five years later, and after witnessing a number of traffic issues along the road, the woman is now calling for better infrastructure to be installed elsewhere.
The woman says she was first warned after council officers spotted a motor parked in front of the house she shares with her husband. She said: "I didn't initially know you couldn't drive over it, and we only had the driveway done at the end of March. A highways inspector drove past, stopped, and told my husband he was legally not allowed to park there.
"We did have grass and a footpath but the tree roots completely uplifted it, so we installed the paved driveway. To be honest, we were totally naïve and just assumed as it was a dropped kerb we would be able to use it."
A letter from the council in May stated that bollards would be installed if the path was damaged to stop vehicles from just driving over it. "This was just a warning sign, we haven't used it since, yet they still came and installed the bollards," the resident added.
The council says it wasn't informed that the driveway would be paved and said that they would have warned the residents it could not be accessed due to the nearby crossing. The couple's car hasn't been used since March and is now parked on a neighbouring

The 1975 have axed the remaining dates on their Asian tour following a performance in Malaysia in which frontman Matty Healy protested anti-LGBTQ laws in the country, leading to their set being cut short by organizers. The band's performance at Kuala Lumpur’s Good Vibes festival on Friday, July 21, was brought to an abrupt end after Healy spoke about his conflicted feelings while on stage in a country where same-sex relationships are illegal and those convicted can be imprisoned.

SKIMS has just everyone and their mother in a chokehold when it comes to shapewear and loungewear. The sleek silhouettes, the shade range and the material are what make it the talk of the town, but one thing that not everyone is so stoked with is the price tag. SKIMS pieces can cost a pretty penny, and I don’t know about you, but I can’t justify spending a huge chunk of my paycheque on stretchy thongs and bodysuits.

McKinley Franklin editor All eyes are on Harry Styles as he takes the center of a circus ring in his freshly dropped music video for “Daylight.” The brightly colored visualizer, put together by Tanu Muiño (who also directed the video for “As It Was”), kicks off with an image of an ascending, sky-high ladder set in front of a hazy yellow sky. Styles descends down the ladder, revealing the backstage landscape of a circus crew adorned by just about every act that could be featured in such a decadent show. In the final moments of the song’s chorus, Styles is dramatically catapulted out of a cannon, in which he soars over the circus performers dressed in an embellished yellow look enhanced with a set of wings. The outfit noticeably resembles that of a bird — but not so much the “bluebird” that Styles mentions in his pre-chorus.
