Holly Willoughby was placed under 'police guard' following a 'plot to kidnap the This Morning star'.
The 42-year-old was pulled from Wednesday's programme after discovering the alleged threat and was later given protection by police, reports The Mirror.
Sources say the star was watched by a 'round-the-clock police guard' after a 36-year-old man was arrested at a flat in Harlow, Essex on Wednesday. "Police are treating this as a credible conspiracy to kidnap Holly," said an insider.
Holly is said to be "distraught" after finding out about the reported kidnapping plot and was taken out of ITV's schedule to protect her. Police alerted producers just moments before Holly was due on air, according to reports.
The Sun reports that police allegedly found "sinister messages" from the suspect who had allegedly threatened to "seriously harm" the mum-of-three. The outlet reports the person is not known to the star and was 'in police custody last night'.
Police reportedly remain outside the suspect's flat. One neighbour in Harlow, Essex, told the newspaper: "I saw him being led out of his flat in handcuffs last night at about nine o'clock."
Another added: "The police car has been there all day. Earlier on there was a forensics van." Police guards are reportedly placed outside Holly's home where she lives with her husband Daniel Baldwin and their sons Harry and Chester and daughter Belle.
