This is the moment a hero Scots shopkeeper tried to tackle a sneaky shoplifter who fled a store clutching cans of beers.
The brave woman was kicked as she tried to stop the lout escaping from the Keystore in Broxburn, West Lothian, at around 7.30pm on Friday, October 14. As reported by Edinburgh Live, the 45-year-old shop assistant hid behind a shelf after she noticed the thief heading out without paying before trying to grab him as he left through the door.
The thug then pushed her into the door frame as he kicked her and ran off. The CCTV footage shows the man, who appears to be in his twenties, walk into the store wearing a white Rangers top before heading around to the alcohol fridges.
He then looks around suspiciously before grabbing two four packs of beer from the fridges and, instead of walking towards the till to pay, walks to the other side of the store. He then has a quick look around before fleeing.
Suspicious of the beer thief, the shop worker hid behind a shelf before bravely jumping out and trying to grab him as he bolted past - however, he managed to escape her grip before getting away.
Owner of the shop Acksa Shahid said: "It’s not often these things happen but we have had a few incidents like this one. When he walked into the store he looked around then went for the beer fridge."
He added: "My colleague was suspicious due to his behaviour. She watched him while I was serving and then he ran for it.
"She tried to grab him from the back but he pushed her into the door and then kicked her and ran off. The guy is tall, slim built with dark brown hair."
Police Scotland said they had no record of the incident being reported to them.
