Prince Harry has opened up about the devastating moment he was told of his mother, Princess Diana's, death.
He was only 12 when King Charles, then Prince of Wales, broke the news to him about the fatal Paris car crash on August 31, 1997. Although the Duke of Sussex initially believed that his mum would recover, certain phrases uttered by his father have remained etched in his memory "like darts in a board".
In his tell-all book, 'Spare', Harry described how Charles sat beside him, placing a hand upon his knee as he conveyed the sorrowful information to his son. The Duke recalled a strange look given by his father during this life-changing conversation.
Despite learning of the accident from Charles, Harry harboured hope that his mother would be all right, eagerly anticipating a reassurance from his father, reports the Mirror. He imagined, as mentioned in 'Spare', the sequence of events: "She's been taken to hospital, they'll fix her head, and we'll go and see her. Today. Tonight at the latest".
The harsh reality dawned on Harry not long afterward, as the gravity of the situation became apparent. He shared the poignant words from his father that confirmed his worst fears: "They tried, darling boy. I'm afraid she didn't make it."
Harry poignantly recalls the phrases that brought his world to a halt, admitting: "None of what I said to him then remains in my memory," and reflecting on his reaction, he added: "It's possible that I didn't say anything. What I do remember with startling clarity is that I didn't cry. Not one tear."

There have been several attempts to compare Meghan Markle with the late Diana, Princess of Wales ever since her and Prince Harry's relationship became public knowledge. These comparisons reached boiling point following the release of investigative journalist Tom Bower's controversial book 'Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors' last year. One of the most striking claims was how Harry reportedly hoped that Diana's two sisters and younger brother would identify the similarities between Meghan and his late mother - a fact which ended up in disappointment when they didn't. In an eyebrow-raising twist presented by Bower, he suggests that Diana's brother, Earl Spencer was requested to intervene about Harry's growing relationship with Meghan.

Just one year ago, Prince William took a huge leap forward in shining a spotlight on the homelessness problem that plagues the UK with the launch of Homewards. The project, which took two years to put together, is a five-year locally led programme which aims to demonstrate that together it is possible to end homelessness: making it 'rare, brief, and unrepeated'. Prince William and Prince Harry may be in line for the throne, but there's one thing they'll never inherit - their mother Princess Diana's childhood home. The Althorp Estate, which has been in the Spencer family since 1508, will instead go to their cousin Louis, son of Earl Spencer, Diana's brother Charles. Despite having three older sisters, 30-year-old Viscount Althorp, Louis, will inherit the estate due to the aristocracy's system of primogeniture, where titles are passed down to the oldest boy, not the firstborn child. The sprawling 13,500-acre estate is where Diana spent her childhood and was laid to rest after her tragic death in 1997.
