Meghan Markle and Prince Harry seemingly failed to impress the people of New York City as no crowds appeared during their Archewell event for World Mental Health Day yesterday.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex launched their first in-person Archewell event at the Project Healthy Minds in Hudson Yards on Tuesday, October 10 where they spoke in a panel about mental wellbeing in the digital age.
However, New Yorkers did not seem to be thrilled at the royal couple's return to the city, the Express reports.
No crowds of people appeared in the Hudson Yards area as Harry and Meghan arrived and departed and many locals said they "did not care" about their presence when asked about their thoughts on the pair being in New York.
Karla Mendez, 22, from the Bronx, said exclusively to Daily Express US: “I mean if I get to see them it’s cool, but I didn’t know they were here.”
While several black SUVs were parked outside the venue, most tourists and locals seemed unfazed by the royals being there.
In one of their most recent visits, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the Ms Foundation 50th anniversary gala in Manhattan in which their spokesperson claims ended in a “near catastrophic car chase” from persistent paparazzi following them.
Due to this alleged incident, the Sussexes' security was much more tight this time with their arrival and departure at the venue going almost unnoticed.
However, one keen royal fan ensured that she did not miss the event but even she admitted that the couple did not cause much excitement or draw a crowd in the Big Apple.
A. McGinniss, an author from New Jersey at the event, said to Daily Express US: “I’ve always been a royal watcher. I’m blown away by their whole story. I’m a big fan of the whole family.”
