As Halsey continues to work tirelessly on the frontlines of the protests in Los Angeles, she has just one ask of her fans who come out to the demonstrations: do not, under any circumstances, use this as an opportunity to get a selfie. “Don’t even ask me, I won’t say yes,” she tweeted on May 30.

Halsey has been in the middle of the protests in Los Angeles over the past few days, and the singer shared photos and videos on Instagram to let her fans know what she has witnessed. The You Should Be Sad singer has provided first aid to those who have been injured while protesting George Floyd’s death, and she told people who are sitting in “the comfort” of their own home to open their eyes.

At the end of last week and into the weekend, thousands of Americans in cities like Minneapolis, Louisville, Columbus, Chicago, New York, and more gathered to protest police violence in light of the recent deaths of unarmed civilians George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and more. Soon, the movement had grown global, with notable demonstrations in New Zealand, England, Germany, Italy, and other European countries taking place, as well.

Halsey was among hundreds of thousands of people across the world who marched for Floyd, an unarmed black man who was murdered by a white police officer on May 25, over the weekend. After she attended a protest in Los Angeles on Saturday, March 30, Halsey took to her Twitter to address fans who asked for a photo with her as she marched.
