Halle Berry is looking back at a historic moment in her career.
In a post shared to her Twitter on Friday (March 25), the 55-year-old actress recalled winning Best Actress at the 74th Academy Awards in 2002 for her role in Monster’s Ball, which made her the first Black woman to win the award.

“20 years ago, this week, I walked through that door,” Halle wrote alongside a photo of her holding the award. “I will never get over this moment!”
She went on to thank The Academy, Lionsgate, Lee Daniels, and Marc Forster, adding a red heart emoji.
At the time, Halle was only the seventh African American woman to be nominated for the award and remains the only Black woman to have won. In Monster’s Ball, the actress played Leticia Musgrove, a woman who begins an affair with the executioner of her convicted husband. It also stars Heath Ledger, Billy Bob Thornton, Sean Combs, Peter Boyle, and Mos Def.
That year Halle was up against Renée Zellweger (Bridget Jones’s Diary), Judi Dench (Iris), Nicole Kidman (Moulin Rouge) and Sissy Spacek (In the Bedroom).

Lee Daniels and Mo’Nique are patching things up.
EXCLUSIVE: After not speaking for 13 years, Oscar-winning Precious star Mo’Nique has been set by that film’s director Lee Daniels to replace Octavia Spencer in Demon House, an exorcism film package that Netflix acquired after a brisk auction in January. Spencer had to bow out of the star-studded film because of a scheduling conflict with her Apple TV+ television show Truth Be Told.
George Lopez is the latest celerity to speak out following the controversy at the 94th Academy Awards, letting the world know who he’s siding with in the situation. As the comedian attended the grand opening of the Immersive Frida Kahlo exhibit in support of Global Gift Foundation USA on Wednesday, March 30, Lopez expressed his support for Chris Rock after he was slapped onstage by Will Smith.
George Lopez is sharing his own opinion of the Oscars 2022 slap incident.
“Keep my wife’s name out of your f****** mouth. ” That’s what best actor winner Will Smith shouted - twice - after hitting Chris Rock in the face for making a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair. Going out un-bleeped in the UK, it was a bizarre, shocking moment of violence that cast a weird pall over the rest of the awards, not least Smith’s own win for King Richard.
The 2022 Oscars returned to the Dolby Theatre and to kick off a night of eventful moments, DJ Khaled burst onto the stage to introduce hosts Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes, and Regina Hall. As the three women walked on stage, the American DJ suddenly ran out before them to excitedly yell their names and generate energy among the audience. It seemed as though the women were about to speak when the DJ interrupted them, indicating the surprise appearance was not planned.
Surprisingly, Chris Rock wasn’t responsible for the night’s best joke (but he did deliver big on the night’s biggest shocker). Instead, the honors went to the three hosts and the inimitable Jane Campion. Here were the best jokes from the 2022 Oscars.
After over three decades in the industry, it’s no surprise that Wanda Sykes’ net worth is where it’s at today. So, how much does Sykes make from shows like Netflix’s The Upshaws and hosting gigs like the Oscars?
