As we get older, the passing of time shows up all over our skin and bodies - including our hair.
While there are certain treatments, products and procedures that can help achieve a more youthful look, having a flattering haircut is one of the most effective things you can do.
There are obviously more important things in life than looking younger, but for those who want to make sure their hairstyle isn't adding years to their face, one expert has revealed all.
Ghanima Abdullah is a hair expert and cosmetologist at The Right Hairstyles, writes the Express.
She's shared her top five hairstyles that over 50s should avoid if they want to keep looking younger and feel more confident in their appearance.
Fringes, or bangs, have been popular for decades.
They work with a lot of different hair textures and styles, and their versatility is what makes them such an ideal choice. But for an anti-ageing look, avoid ultra-short or baby bangs.
Ghanima explained: "Wherever your bangs fall, that is the feature they will emphasize the most. You don't want short bangs that fall right in the middle of your forehead where you might have a few lines."
Having your fringe cut at a longer length, such as by your eyebrows, will put all the focus on your eyes instead. Thick, blunt fringes should also be avoided, because they don't do well at framing your face.
Instead, opt for longer and layered bangs, or curtain bangs as they're known.
Having your hair all the one length without any layers means it'll look less voluminous.
Adding layers into short hair, especially around the face, gives it dimension and will make your locks appear thicker - ideal if they're thinning out.
According to Ghanima, women wanting a more youthful look should avoid a haircut
