'Hades' Takes Top Honor at BAFTA Games Awards

Dressed to impress! The BAFTAs red carpet always delivers some serious style — and the 2021 ceremony was no exception. From show-stopping metallic moments to jewel-toned dresses, the fashion was some of the best we’ve seen this season!

The 2021 Directors Guild Awards took place Saturday, with Chloé Zhao receiving the evening's top honor for Nomadland. Like many other awards shows over the past year, the DGA Awards occurred virtually, with members watching the proceedings unfold via streaming video.

With Chloe Zhao’s expected DGA win last night, and her film Nomadland taking the lion’s share of BAFTA wins today for Best Film, Director, Actress Frances McDormand, and Cinematography, the Searchlight film would seem to be an overwhelming favorite to repeat at the Oscars.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) 2021 officially kicked off on Saturday night. This year the awards show has been spread out over two nights and the first night saw the crafts-focused awards being announced.

The unconventional 74th BAFTAs are underway, with the primary Brit film awards being handed out across two evenings. Today, the craft categories are being recognized, and Noel Clarke will be picking up the Outstanding Contribution to Cinema prize. The starry cast of Aaron Sorkin’s 1960s courtroom drama “The Trial of the Chicago 7” took the top prize Sunday at a virtual Screen Actors Guild Awards where actors of color, for the first time, swept the individual film awards.The 27th SAG Awards, presented by the Hollywood actors’ guild SAG-Aftra, were a muted affair — and not just because the red carpet-less ceremony was condensed to a pre-recorded, Zoom-heavy, one-hour broadcast on TBS and TNT.
