When asked about her time on the show, Gugu replied, “It was so surreal, I mean the whole experience was amazing. And for me to join something that has such a huge fan base, and obviously Tom Hiddleston‘s played that character for such a long time, so to be this morally ambiguous character, like Ravonna Renslayer, is kind of a really cool thing.”
The pair also discussed the multiverse, with Gugu noting that she thinks there should be a “tutorial” on it similar to the one Tom gave on his character when the team started working on the show.
“When we first started on the first season of Loki Tom gave us a big Loki presentation, kind of a PowerPoint on his character and his history… but I feel like we need one for the multiverse,” she said.
She also confirmed that filming for season two had begun in London, but played coy about specific plot details.
“I’m not allowed to give too much away,” Gugu said. “It’s really great to be back and it kind of feels like, because my character deals with time and the Time Variance Authority, being back in that world, it’s like no time has passed.”

Daniel D'Addario Chief TV Critic“Surface” is just good enough for a sympathetic viewer to want it to be better.Like Apple’s most recent glossy drama about a woman in danger, “Shining Girls,” “Surface” effectively evokes the confusion of not knowing who or where one really is; here, Gugu Mbatha-Raw stars as Sophie, a woman who suffered a brain injury in an apparent suicide attempt, and now has no sense of who she is. And as on “Shining Girls,” a crystalline depiction of inner turmoil coexists alongside absurdity that grows a bit tough to take. For conspiracy swirls around Sophie.
