Grammys: John Legend, Meek Mill, DJ Khaled and More Pay Tribute to Nipsey Hussle

As always, Super Bowl LIV will have plenty of entertainment even when the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs are not on the field.

One of the most moving moments of a largely subdued Grammys came during the Nipsey Hussle tribute featuring Meek Mill, DJ Khaled, John Legend, and more. Meek Mill has now gone one step further, recruiting Roddy Ricch for new song "Letter to Nipsey." Atlantic Records has confirmed that all proceeds will benefit Nipsey Hussle’s family.

Celebs took their fashion to the next level at the 2020 Grammys.

DJ Khaled, John Legend, and the late Nipsey Hussle have taken home the award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration tonight at the 62nd Annual Grammy Award. Khaled’s 2019 single “Higher” beat out songs by Lil Baby and Gunna (“Drip Too Hard”), Lil Nas X (“Panini”), Mustard and Roddy Ricch (“Ballin”), and Young Thug, J. Cole, and Travis Scott (“The London”).

John Legend, YG and DJ Khaled performed a medley of songs alongside Meek Mill, Roddy Ricch and Kirk Franklin as part of the Grammy Awards tribute to Nipsey Hussle.

When it came time to pay tribute to the late great Nipsey Hussle at the 2020 Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy called upon a series of artists for a major collaborative performance.

Tonight at the 2020 Grammys, Meek Mill, DJ Khaled, John Legend, YG, Roddy Ricch, and Kirk Franklin all took to the stage for a tribute to the late rapper Nipsey Hussle. The performance opened with Meek and Roddy before transitioning into “Higher,” DJ Khaled’s song with Nipsey and John Legend. YG, donning all red, appeared on stage to perform afterwards.

Before DJ Khaled, John Legend, and a host of others pay tribute to Nipsey Hussle tonight, the Los Angeles rapper became a Grammy winner for the first time. 

Sean “Diddy” Combs slammed the Recording Academy before a star-studded crowd at the annual Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Gala on Saturday night, saying that hip-hop and black music have “never been respected by the Grammys,” ironically as he accepted his award as the 2020 Grammy Salute to Industry Icons honoree at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles.
