Grammys 2020 Nipsey Hussle Tribute: YG, Meek Mill, John Legend, DJ Khaled, Roddy Ricch Perform “Higher,” More

At this year's Grammys, Ava DuVernay introduced Meek Mill, DJ Khaled, John Legend, Roddy Ricch, Kirk Franklin, and YG to the stage for their tribute to the late Nipsey Hussle. The Hollywood Reporter states that DuVernay will take her involvement with the rapper, who was shot and killed in 2019, by working on a documentary alongside his family.

One of the most moving moments of a largely subdued Grammys came during the Nipsey Hussle tribute featuring Meek Mill, DJ Khaled, John Legend, and more. Meek Mill has now gone one step further, recruiting Roddy Ricch for new song "Letter to Nipsey." Atlantic Records has confirmed that all proceeds will benefit Nipsey Hussle’s family.

Nipsey Hussle is gone but not forgotten. During the 2020 Grammy Awards, the rap star was remembered with an all-tribute featuring the likes of Meek Mill, DJ Khaled and John Legend.

DJ Khaled, John Legend, and the late Nipsey Hussle have taken home the award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration tonight at the 62nd Annual Grammy Award. Khaled’s 2019 single “Higher” beat out songs by Lil Baby and Gunna (“Drip Too Hard”), Lil Nas X (“Panini”), Mustard and Roddy Ricch (“Ballin”), and Young Thug, J. Cole, and Travis Scott (“The London”).

The musician was shot multiple times and was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

John Legend, YG and DJ Khaled performed a medley of songs alongside Meek Mill, Roddy Ricch and Kirk Franklin as part of the Grammy Awards tribute to Nipsey Hussle.

Nipsey Hussle, posthumously nominated for three awards at the 2020 Grammys, was the subject of a touching tribute performance at the 2020 Grammys. John Legend, DJ Khaled, Meek Mill, Roddy Ricch, YG, and Kirk Franklin performed in honor of the fallen rapper, who was killed last year in California.
