Grammys 2022 Ratings Narrowly Beat Out Last Year's Record Low

The ratings are in for the 2022 Grammy Awards!
Variety writes that last night’s viewership saw a 1.4% increase in audience size from last year’s event, which was a record low for the annual award show.

The Grammys were hosted by Trevor Noah and held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. According to time-zone adjusted fast national data from Nielsen, they brought in 8.93 million total viewers across multiple platforms.
By contrast, last year’s mostly virtual show brought in 8.8 million viewers, which was down 50% from the 18.8 million that watched the January 2020 telecast. Nielsen also reports that the 2021 show had an initial 2.1 rating among adults 18-49, which was also a historic low.
CBS notes that Sunday’s event will likely adjust up to 9.6 million viewers in total, which will mean there was a 2.1% increase from last year in total.
