Rob LeDonne When Jeff Lima, an actor of Puerto Rican descent (“Chicago Fire”), began auditioning for television and film work, he noticed something dejecting. “Early on, I can’t tell you how many of the same characters I was going out for,” says Lima, 30, of the stereotypical hardened-Latino roles he was presented with.

Mank led all films with 10 Oscar nominations Monday, including best director (David Fincher), best actor (Gary Oldman) and best supporting actress (Amanda Seyfried), along with best picture. They are joining previously announced stars Ben Milliken, Richard Kind, Brad William Henke, Alison Thorton, and Hudson Yang.

The Directors Guild of America on Tuesday announced the feature-film and first-time director nominees for the 2021 DGA Awards. The feature-film director nominees are Minari's Lee Isaac Chung, Promising Young Woman's Emerald Fennell, Mank's David Fincher, Trial of the Chicago 7's Aaron Sorkin and Nomadland's Chloé Zhao.

As Academy members drive through Los Angeles under an onslaught of FYC banners they are only days away from voting on the nominees for the 93rd Academy Awards. And while the Golden Globes delivered the lowest-rated telecast in 13 years, they did provide something of a public relations boost to a number of contenders.

In an awards season unlike any we’ve seen, the Golden Globes still stuck to the script when it came to the Best Film Drama, with Searchlight Pictures’ Nomadland taking home the top prize Sunday night. It was the film’s second win at the 78th Golden Globes after its director, Chloe Zhao, made history by becoming the first Asian woman and second woman to take home the prize.
