George Clarke's chest hair was sold on eBay after an on-set accident led to it being listed online.
The architect and host of shows including Ugly House To Lovely House, Old House, New Home and Amazing Spaces was recording a TV show when a clump of his body hair came off after a radio mic was stuck to his chest. His sound man, Dan, then decided to list it on eBay for a laugh, complete with photos of George clutching the strands for all to see.
To their surprise, the listing attracted several bids from fans of his shows, with it eventually thought to have sold for around £300 when the listing closed three years ago.
After it sold, George posted a message to the buyer, Jenny, on Instagram, saying: "Thank-you Jenny! You won my chest hair! Thanks for being an amazing sport! All for a good cause! Much love George xxx." George also he was donating the proceeds to mental health charity Calm. The 50 year old TV star then said he would consider shaving his head for charity after the success of his chest hair sale.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, he said: "I'm very thankful that I've got a very full thick head of hair in my middle age. I've been told I'm never gonna go bald because it's such a thick head of hair which is good.
It could be a resource for fundraising for many years to come." He went on to say he could potentially raise a five-figure sum by auctioning off all of his chest hair, joking: "Someone asked me last night, 'How much is the rest of your chest worth now then?' At a rough guess because I'm not quite David Hasselhoff level of chest hair but I'm certainly not an Olympic swimmer either I've probably got about forty-five grand's worth if someone's paying £310 for that. I could take it all off and sell it for a good cause."
