Anna Marie de la Fuente Prime Video Latin America has snapped up streaming rights to Katina Medina Mora’s latest film “Latido” (“Heartbeat”), starring Oscar-nominated Marina de Tavira (“Roma”). This is the third feature from Medina Mora, whose credits include episodes of Netflix hit “Emily in Paris,” Apple TV+’s “Swagger” and romantic drama, “LuTo,” her debut feature picked up by Netflix. Its trailer debuts exclusively on Variety. “Latido,” which has its world premiere at the Mill Valley Film Festival and its Mexican premiere at the Morelia Film Festival, turns on 45-year-old Leonor, played by De Tavira, who works for an NGO that supports young athletes.

Naman Ramachandran MetFilm Sales has picked up worldwide rights (excluding U.K.) and will handle international sales on acclaimed documentary “Name Me Lawand” from “Gangs of London” producer Pulse Films. Directed by Edward Lovelace (“The Possibilities Are Endless”), the documentary, filmed over four years, follows Lawand Hamad Amin, who spent his early years in Iraq unable to hear or communicate. His profound deafness meant he could not learn language, and with no access to a deaf education, Lawand grew isolated and trapped inside himself.

A U.S.-Spain co-production, the film is produced by Torrent, alongside Randy Simon, Maria Àngels Amorós and Toni Espinosa, for New York’s companies Duende Pictures and RFS Wolf Entertainment and Barcelona’s Toned Media.

Emiliano De Pablos Spanish mini-major Filmax has picked up international sales rights to “Teresa,” the new feature by Paula Ortiz (”The Bride,” ”Across the River and Into the Trees”), a fictional story turning on the prominent Spanish mystic and religious reformer Saint Teresa of Jesus. “Teresa” marks the big screen adaptation of Spaniard playwright Juan Mayorga’s stage play ”La lengua en pedazos,” which narrates a meeting between Saint Teresa of Jesus – also known as Teresa de Ávila – and a character called The Inquisitor. The feature is not a classic biopic, but rather a free adaptation of the text written by Mayorga – a winner of Spain’s National Prize for Dramatic Literature – which in turn, is based on “The Book of Life,” by Saint Teresa herself.

Emiliano De Pablos Barcelona-based Filmax has swooped on international sales rights to “El amor de Andrea” (“Andrea’s Love”), the new feature by leading Spanish auteur Manuel Martín Cuenca, whose “The Motive” snagged a Fipresci Grand Prize at Toronto Film Festival, and was his third film selected for the festival. “Andrea’s Love” is backed by Lazona, producers of the highest-grossing Spanish film ever on home turf, “Spanish Affair,” and Alebrije, behind Mexico’s all-time biggest box office hit, “Instructions Not Included.” Also producing from Spain are La Loma Blanca, Martin Cuenca’s own label, tax incentive structure El Amor de Andrea AIE and Nephilim Producciones (“Black Beach,” “Invisibles”).
