Gary Neville has admitted that he would be "stunned" if Ralf Rangnick is in charge of Manchester United next season.
The former United captain made the admission after watching Rangnick's men lose 4-1 to cross-city rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon. A brace from both Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez sealed a comfortable win for the home side who coasted their way to all three points.
United responded well to conceding an early goal as Jadon Sancho brought them level, bending home a terrific right-footed effort. However, that was as good as it got, with their second-half showing nothing short of awful.

United, even before Mahrez had netted his first to make it 3-1, were struggling to lay a glove on City in pursuit of a leveller and fell to pieces once the home side got their third. Neville, who was commentating on the game, was hugely critical of United's display and admitted how surprised he would be to see Rangnick remain in charge next term.
Neville told Sky Sports : "I'd be absolutely stunned if Ralf Rangnick was in charge permanently next season. United need a long-term, top manager and a new CEO.
"Whether Rangnick will have a say in the next manager, who knows."
Rangnick, who has now overseen two Premier League defeats since moving to Old Trafford, was appointed United boss on an interim basis back in November. He is set to move upstairs into a consultancy role in the summer, though there has been talk that he could remain as boss next season.
