Erik ten Hag said on Friday that his actions were 'unacceptable' and that an apology has been made. And while Neville agrees that it wasn't the correct decision, the former Reds captain was careful not to be too harsh.

“I said this in my book, I've said it openly, if we lost a match - any match, forget the Manchester derby - nights out were cancelled, simple as that,” Neville told Sky Sports. “It was my rule, it was the other lads' rule.
“You could not be seen in a public place if you lost a football match because you bump into people who pay big money to watch the team play and they don't want to see you enjoying yourself. It’s an optics thing.
“I'm all for lads enjoying their lives, but that's the night to have a takeaway, have a glass of wine, and bring your friends round. Just optically it's not great if you’re seen out in a nightclub in Manchester after a derby loss. I dont think it's right.
